Terms of Service

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are below the age of majority in your country, you may only use the Service with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. We reserve the right to terminate accounts or block IPs that we reasonably believe are operated by underage users.

ONEWORD.ONLINE publishes one human question every day at 12:00 UTC. Anyone may submit one anonymous single-word answer per question. Each question is archived at the next 12:00 UTC and never asked again. The Service is provided free of charge and supported by advertising.

We do not require — and do not offer — user accounts. Your participation is anonymous by design. Your answer is associated only with a one-way hash of technical signals (IP, User-Agent, screen size, timezone, random cookie) used to prevent duplicates. See our Privacy Policy for details.

When you submit a word, you grant ONEWORD.ONLINE a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide licence to display, store, aggregate, and publish that word as part of public word clouds, the daily archive, and derivative summaries (statistics, share cards, embeds).

Because submissions are anonymous and aggregated, deletion of an individual answer from public displays may not be technically possible once it has been merged into the day’s cloud — but you may request deletion of the stored record and its hashed identifier at any time by emailing hellooneword.online@gmail.com.

You agree NOT to:

• disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure
• attempt to bypass our anti-spam mechanisms (rate limiting, fingerprinting, blocked words)
• use bots, scripts, or automated systems to submit answers
• submit content that is illegal, threatening, harassing, hateful, defamatory, sexually explicit, or that infringes intellectual-property or privacy rights of others
• scrape large portions of the site without our written permission
• reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code from the Service

We reserve the right to remove submissions and block access at our sole discretion when we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated.

The Service, including its design, code, branding, copy, daily questions, and aggregated word clouds, is owned by ONEWORD.ONLINE and protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or commercially exploit any substantial portion of the Service without our prior written permission.

You retain ownership of the individual word you submit. You grant us the licence described in Section 4 to use it within the Service.

The Service is supported by advertising, including but not limited to Google AdSense. Ads are displayed alongside content; we do not endorse or warrant the products or services advertised. Advertising cookies are loaded only after you click “Allow cookies” in our consent banner. See our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

We use Cloudflare and Vercel for hosting, Supabase for storage, OpenRouter for AI question generation, Brevo for transactional email, Google AdSense for advertising, and (with your consent) Google Analytics 4 for usage analytics. By using the Service, you acknowledge that data necessary to operate the Service may pass through these providers as described in their own policies.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.

Word-cloud statistics shown on the Service reflect submissions by anonymous users and are not scientific, representative, or verifiable surveys. Treat them as cultural artefacts, not data.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ONEWORD.ONLINE AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

Our total liability for any claim arising under or related to these Terms is limited to ten US dollars ($10) or the amount you paid us in the past 12 months, whichever is greater.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ONEWORD.ONLINE, its operators, and its providers from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, at any time, for any reason, including but not limited to a violation of these Terms. Upon termination, all sections that by their nature should survive will survive — including Sections 6, 9, 10, 11, and 14.

We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature or part of the Service at any time. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification or suspension.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You and ONEWORD.ONLINE agree to attempt informal resolution of any dispute first. If informal resolution fails within 60 days, the dispute may be brought before the competent courts of that jurisdiction.

Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable consumer rights you may have under local law (including in the EU, UK, and California).

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and ONEWORD.ONLINE concerning the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after the change constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
